Big ass BMW on the boulevard
The cream colored building on 39th St. and Queens Blvd. is anonymous no longer: it’s a BMW dealership. This massive complex has eaten up the entire block all the way over to 43rd Ave.
Current or prospective BMW owners are invited to lounge on the ripped from the catalog living room furniture scattered throughout the large interior showroom space, while they consider which 4,000 pound SUV matches their demanding tastes.
The rest of us have to content ourselves with walking past this largely doorless/windowless monolith, which reflects the full sunlight of the shade-free surrounding streets onto passers by:
The consolation prize for this profound waste of space is the inevitability that its huge white walls are too tempting for local graffiti writers to pass up. 7 train riders can already catch a glimpse of graffito on the western walls of the building.
We’ll publish an update if and when someone realizes their artistic ambitions on one of BMW’s giant empty canvases on the other faces of the building.
